A two-year observational study followed 800 nursing home residents.

by Editorial team

The study

Researchers followed 800 nursing home residents over two years, with about half receiving twice-weekly Thymosin Alpha-1 injections.

Outcomes included hospitalization for infection, antibiotic days, and mortality.

Results

The Thymosin Alpha-1 group had 26% fewer hospitalizations for infection and fewer antibiotic days.

Mortality differences trended in favor of treatment but did not reach statistical significance.

Important caveats

This was an observational study, not a randomized trial.

Selection bias and confounding cannot be fully ruled out.
