GHK-Cu shows faster wound closure in diabetic foot ulcer pilot
A small pilot study suggests topical GHK-Cu may accelerate closure rates.
by Editorial team
The pilot
Forty patients with chronic diabetic foot ulcers were randomized to standard care plus topical GHK-Cu or standard care alone.
Wound size was measured weekly for 12 weeks.
Results
The GHK-Cu group showed faster mean closure (8.2 weeks vs 11.4 weeks) and fewer infections.
No serious adverse events were reported.
What to watch
Larger trials are needed before this becomes part of standard care.
Topical formulation, concentration, and dressing protocol all varied across published GHK-Cu studies.
